June 17-23 marks National Week of Making. According to the event’s website, the National Week of Making is building on last year’s National Week of Making. This year’s National Week of Making will highlight the diversity of Makers big and small, young and old, urban and rural. The Week of Making is an opportunity for individuals in communities throughout the U.S. to participate in Making activities locally, celebrating the innovation, ingenuity and creativity of Makers.
Makers are developing new solutions and products to pressing challenges, engaging students in hands on, interactive learning of STEM, arts and design and enabling individuals to learn new skills in design, fabrication and manufacturing.
In honor of the Week of Making, we’re going to celebrate by making some pretty sweet items in preparation for our upcoming Etsy Craft Party Camp WannaMakeIt. On Friday, June 24, we’re teaming with Design Improvised, Morena’s Corner and Crafthouse SA for Camp WannaMakeIt. Join us at CO LAB from 6:30-9:30PM for this year’s #EtsyCraftParty. Make a variety of goods to take home at each of our stations to earn your Maker Merit Badge, all while enjoying snacks, drinks (sponsored by Freetail Brewing Co.) and entertainment provided by your favorite local businesses.
Your ticket goes toward making:
* Set of two personalized woodburned cork coasters
* Modern tie-dye tote bags
* Custom mini wood signs
Other activities for the craft-challenged include cornhole, giant jenga and more.
Early bird tickets are $5 ($10 at the door). VIP tickets are $10 (and, includes a swag bag with goods from local makers). This event is 18+.
Be sure to follow us on our social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) during the #WeekofMaking as we show you what we’re making in preparation for the event. Also, we’d love to see what you’re making! Be sure to tag us (#makeSATX) so we can follow along to see what everyone is up to.
